Biography

Keith Fitzgerald is a seasoned, successful trial lawyer. He has won numerous jury trials in the region—both in Federal and State courts. His superb courtroom skills and legal acumen have led to his selection as one of middle Georgia’s three SuperLawyers in the area of Criminal Defense. He is also the chair for the State Bar of Georgia’s Criminal Law section.

Keith started his practice as a DUI lawyer with the most prestigious criminal defense firm in the region, Hogue & Hogue. After a few years of successfully defending numerous DUI cases--winning many in jury trials--he became a partner at the firm and practiced with Frank Hogue and Laura Hogue for 12 years before starting his own firm. While at Hogue Hogue Fitzgerald & Griffin, he branched out to include all felony and misdemeanor cases as well.

He now handles everything--from murder cases and aggravated assault cases, child molestation and rape cases, drug trafficking and possession, to simple battery and shoplifting.

Keith handles cases throughout the middle Georgia region in all courts. He practices regularly in Bibb, Houston, Jones, Baldwin, Putnam, Wilkinson, Monroe, Lamar, Dooly, Crisp, Peach, Pulaski, Dodge, Telfair, and Crawford Counties as well as in the Federal Middle District of Georgia’s Macon, Athens, and Albany divisions.

Keith is a 2010 graduate of Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law, where he also received the Certificate in Advanced Legal Writing, Research, and Drafting. While a law student, he clerked with a solo attorney in Macon, where he discovered his passion for helping people during difficult and trying times in their lives. This led him directly to the field of criminal defense, as there are no more difficult and trying times for people than when facing the full weight of the criminal justice system. Keith is proud to call himself a criminal defense lawyer.

Law is a second career for Keith. Before becoming a lawyer, Keith was a professional trombonist in the United States Air Force. During his musical career, Keith traveled the world including Japan, Korea, Australia, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Singapore, and Thailand as well as the eastern United States performing jazz and classical concerts as a musical ambassador of the United States. His experience on stage as a performer led him to his law career.

Keith is a past vice president of the Georgia Association Criminal Defense Lawyers and a member of the Georgia and Macon Bar Associations. Keith is also a graduate of the William “Bill” Daniel Trial Advocacy program.
